Sr. Elizabeth Mary Burns grew up in St. Patrick's Church in Estherville. She is renowned by many for her ministry as a nun, nurse, and administrator of Marian Health Center, now MercyOne Siouxland.

Now 95 years old, Sr. Elizabeth Mary Burns reflects on her life, as well as her role as an obituary writer, a "dead-end" job.

Sr. Mary Elizabeth Burns' story caught Joanne's attention in her remarkable story in May 7, 2022 edition of the National Catholic Reporter in an article entitled "Recording people's lives with an eye toward their souls."
